On March 28, 2012, BAMN led a sit-in at the Oakland School Board meeting demanding they rescind the closing of 5 elementary schools.

By the end of the night, ten of us were arrested and we got out our message to the media. We fired the opening shot in the fight to save Oakland’s schools.
