On Cinco de Mayo (May 5, 2013), BAMN marched down Oakland’s International Boulevard to celebrate CINCO DE MAYO and demand FULL CITIZENSHIP RIGHTS FOR ALL. Oakland Mayor Jean Quan had cancelled Oakland’s annual celebration, expressing fear of Oakland’s powerful Latina/o and immigrant communities. After a week of organizing and exposing this political decision, BAMN won the restoration of this celebration in Oakland’s Fruitvale District.
