Donald Trump has announced he’s coming to Michigan during our historic UAW strike to address UAW workers. Hell no! We must shut down his so-called “meeting” and run him out of Michigan by any means necessary.

Trump is a racist bigot authoritarian who tried to overthrow US democracy with a fascist coup. His visit is more than just a cynical election stunt by another lying politician. Trump and his racist thugs are a real and present danger to democracy, justice and equality in our nation, including unions.

Trump leads a dangerous movement of fascist supporters who must and can be defeated. If he is elected again he will use the police and his vigilante fascist thugs to bust up strikes and destroy any union that dares to stand up to billionaires like him who are afraid that the working class is  finally off its knees and fighting back. That is why he chose a non-union shop as the venue for his visit.

On September 22, a racist Trump supporter jumped out of his vehicle to yell racist slurs and swing on striking UAW workers picketing a Stellantis facility. It didn’t end well for him (see local Detroit reports). We need to express the same contempt for Trump as the picketers showed that racist anti-union bigot and make clear that we will shut down not only this speech but his whole fascist movement.

This UAW strike is more than just a contract conflict. This is an historic chance for the entire working class to stand up and fight for our nation’s future as part of the growing international strike movement. We are not relying on electing politicians to save us from billionaire vampires. The working class is fighting for ourselves. We must rely solely on ourselves and our many supporters and spread the strike as wide as possible. This is the start of the battle for fairness and dignity for all workers and oppressed people.

Trump should be treated as the dangerous virus that he is. If he dares show up in Michigan we must drive him out. The more this strike takes on the fighting spirit of the George Floyd movement, the more we mobilize the youth who want to fight for social justice and for their futures to join us on the picket lines and into the streets, then the more we will win. Send bigot Trump and his racist and fascist supporters packing! Build the new Civil Rights/Immigrant Rights and Labor Movement to defend democracy and crush the growth of a fascist movement! All out to win victory for the UAW strike!
